6 Ways to Unwind

I love to stay busy, seriously guys. I love learning new skills, putting my truth out into the world, and finding innovative ways to use my platform to empower people...and in order to be my best self, I need to make time to recharge. Unwinding after a long day or week is an absolute must. For me, that means a few things—taking care of my body, laughing a lot, and spending time outside! I notice that if I overwork myself, I’m not as productive as I’d like to be and I get overtired quickly. And that just can’t happen! So I make time each week to put something back into my soul...something that rejuvenates me from within.

Here are 6 ways I like to unwind…

Read

I’m currently reading Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and recently finished Maid by Stephanie Land. Both are beautifully written, inspiring, and heartfelt…I just love immersing myself into a story. It helps my brain relax, while I soak up and learn about other people’s incredible experiences.

Watch TV

Dear White People, on Netflix, is so funny! I also love Elite…and of course, you can find me watching old episodes of Gossip Girl. Tuning in to these shows is such a great way for me to decompress, laugh, and just relax. And I never forget the snacks and delicious cocktail!

At-Home Facials

I love masking to relax! I double-mask with Renée Rouleau products, like the luxe Pure Radiance and Energizing Cleansing Masques. Then I steam, and apply a hair mask at the same time. The best part is walking around my house like I’m in a spa…big fluffy robe and all!

Make Lists

I love making lists! I pick out a gorgeous journal or planner and then get to writing. It’s so soothing having my whole to-do list written out in front of me…especially when I start checking off those items! Pro Tip- It’s okay to put something on your list that you’ve already done…and then check it off immediately.

Edit Videos

Okay, so I know this is random, but I love to edit videos on my phone with apps like InShot! It zones me out and I learn new tricks along the way…I have so much fun doing it and it's such an escape!

Watch Sunsets

Whether we’re in Montauk or California, Patrick and I love going to the beach to watch the sunset… it’s always incredible. Each sunset is different and there’s nothing like the sound of the waves and the glow of the sky to help me wind down at the end of the day. It puts things into perspective for me and reminds me to take a deep breath every once in a while. (My gorgeous cardigan is from the stunning Faherty!)
