Celebrating 10 Years in San Miguel de Allende

In 2007, I married my best friend surrounded by close family and friends in one of our favorite places in the world, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We were so young (I was 27!!), so madly in love and excited to throw a huge fiesta to celebrate our union. The day was filled with beautiful memories, incredible food and thanks to our location, unbelievable vistas. We got married overlooking the breathtaking Bay of Banderas which served as the perfect backdrop for what ended up being one of the best and biggest parties any of our guests have ever been to!

Looking back, I wouldn’t change anything about the day … well, maybe one thing, the photos. Better said, the lack of photos. We hired a friend who was a “photographer” and let’s just say the results were less than ideal. I was so disappointed in the images that anytime someone would ask to see photos from our wedding I would choke back tears and show them the only two photos that I had. Not hiring a professional to shoot our wedding has been one of my biggest regrets, so as our 10 year anniversary got closer, I knew I only wanted one thing – professional photos that captured our love and the joy of our marriage.

After weeks of research, I found the perfect photographer and a stunning location, the only thing missing was the dress. I wanted something that had a more casual vibe since this wasn’t an actual wedding, but that still made me feel really special. It wasn’t easy to find but thankfully, I came across the White by Vera Wang collection at David’s Bridal. The collection featured a wide range of styles – from stunning formal dresses that would make any bride feel like the most beautiful woman in the world to more contemporary and modern styles that happened to be exactly what I was looking for!

I chose a short-sleeved lace dress that echoed the romantic vibe of The Rosewood Hotel (where we would be taking the photos) but that also had a more relaxed feel that felt appropriate for the occasion. When the dress came, I instantly fell in love and now that I finally have the photos back from our shoot, I know I made the perfect decision.

The dress felt like it was custom made for my body because the White by Vera Wang Collection actually offers petite sizing on a few of their styles. The corded lace and delicate organza flowers give the dress incredible dimension and its truly stunning from every angle.
